Interview with Gary Graham of Bloom 2014

With just under a week to go to Bloom 2014 the countdown is well and truly underway. For garden enthusiasts this is one of the biggest Irish horticulture events of the year. The show, which takes place over the June bank holiday weekend in Dublin’s Phoenix Park, is now in its eight year and continues to grow in popularity each year.

I had the opportunity this week to head down to the Bloom site and see how things are shaping up for 2014. Surrounded by the hussel and bussel of garden designers feverously working away on their show gardens, I sat down with Gary Graham, the man behind the garden festival, to hear all about Bloom 2014.

With new attractions added to Bloom each year it continues to grow, however the show gardens still remain the heart and soul of the event. Gary explains what goes into creating an award winning show garden and the stringent judging process. He also highlights the importance of supporting amateur and young gardener designers with the show.

Tickets for the event can be bought at and for up to date information on the festival follow Bloom on or on Twitter follow @bloominthepark or #Bloom. Make sure to check out my look back at some of my top garden designs from Bloom 2013 here.
