Travelling along the Royal Canal Way

Most of the time the thoughts of walking home from work does not really appeal to me but yesterday with the great weather I did not mind one bit. Plus the way I decided to travel home really added to the pleasure and enjoyment of walking roughly 7Km home.

When I decided to walk home I decided to take the scenic route that travels along the Royal Canal. This walk is known as the Royal Canal Way and in total stretches 144Km travelling from Dublin to Longford.

Not only is the walk lovely as you get to follow the canal and pass through a number of impressive locks but there are some great wild flowers and garden escapees along the way. For the plant lover in me this was an added bonus!

Even though it is still early in the season there was lots to see. But more importantly there were great signs of things to come! Hopefully this summer I will get to explore different parts of this walk and see what else it has to offer!
