Bloom 2013 – Cupcake Camp

This year Bloom was taken over by Cupcakes! By far one of the busiest and most popular attractions at Bloom 2013 was the Cupcake Camp. My good friend Orla Broderick was involved with organising and running the event so I had to stop by and see how it was going. If anyone follows me on twitter you might have noticed I really liked the camp and could not stop tweeting about it and going back to visit!

The camp was organised to raise much needed funds for Crumlin Children’s Hospital. For a small donation kids were able to take part in the camp. They got a great demonstration on decorating cupcakes from Sharon Hearne-Smith and then they were able to go off and decorate their own cupcakes. The kids got to pick their top cupcake to enter into a competition to win some great prizes at the end of each day!

The standard of the kids was unbelievable and there are some great chefs in the making out there! While all the kids and even the adults that took part in the event had a great time, the most important thing is that a lot of money was raised for Crumlin Children’s Hospital and will go to great use.

An other good thing about going to the Cupcake Camp (apart from picking up some great decorating tips for myself!) was that I finally got to meet the lovely Caítríona aka Wholesome Ireland!

There is a great video on the Bloom website all about the Cupcake Camp. Make sure to check it out and learn more about it and the great cause behind it.
