Wood Anemones Come to Say Hello
Now that the snow of March is behind us and the sunshine of April is falling upon us the forest floor is awash of colour . The sun makes the dusky of blue of wood anemones stand out vibrantly on the forest floor. They are a great sight to find while exploring beneath the trees.
I have been visiting the forest for the past two weeks so managed to catch the plant in transition of opening its flowers. Wood anemones are very long blooming and can be found flowering for well over a month at a time.
Anemone nemorosa, come in a ray of different shades from the blue I found to pink and white. The plant flowers in early spring and normally erupts from the ground in an explosion of colour along with bluebells. These lovely delicate flowers prefer shade or partial shade so make them a great plant to have in those tricky garden spots.
